With Christmas fast approaching, I want to share a delicious chocolate mint cookie recipe with you. Unlike many chocolate cookies, this recipe calls for melted chocolate, instead of cocoa powder, and it is added in with the wet ingredients.

These Hershey’s Kiss cookies are a great addition to cookie exchanges and hey look beautiful on any cookie platter during the holiday season. The white chocolate peppermint Kisses have a nice crunch too.

Tips & tricks:

  • A cookie scoop makes shaping your cookies a breeze. You get quick, uniform dough balls every time.
  • Using a Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix to whip up sugar cookie dough is a huge timesaver. Add a little cocoa to the mix and turn it into chocolate sugar cookies.
  • When baking holiday cookies, make double or triple batches. It saves a ton of time in the long run!
  • Start making your Christmas cookies early and freeze them. Baked cookies will easily last 3 months in the freezer. When party season arrives, you will be able to put together a holiday cookie tray in no time.

More holiday cookie ideas:

  • Peanut butter blossoms – Instead of a chocolate cookie and mint Kisses, make peanut butter cookies and add plain milk chocolate Kisses.
  • Sugar cookies – Whether you prefer a crispy or chewy sugar cookie, they are a classic for any holiday. Use seasonal cookie cutters and decorate with royal icing.
  • A shortbread cookie sprinkled with red or green sprinkles is always festive.
  • Chewy ginger cookies

The next time you’re looking for the perfect holiday cookie, try these Hershey’s Kisses cookies. Be sure to check out even more of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes!

FAQs

Why is my brownie crispy? ›

When you whisk the eggs in a separate bowl before adding them to the batter, you are essentially adding air to the eggs. That air is what makes the top of your brownies crinkle, creating a crispy texture, with cracks of gooey, moist chocolate peeking through.

Why do you cut brownies with a plastic knife? ›

The plastic knife glides smoothly through the brownies because it's nonstick without dragging or catching. If you do get crumbs on the plastic knife, just wipe them away before making your next cut. Apparently, this tip may already be known to some box brownie bakers.

Do brownies cut better hot or cold? ›

The single most important step in cutting brownies cleanly is to be sure they are completely cooled before you attempt to cut them. We have methods that will give you perfect brownies but none of them will work if you're impatient and cut hot or even warm brownies.

What makes brownies fudgy vs cakey? ›

Fudgy brownies have a higher fat-to-flour ratio than cakey ones. So add more fat—in this case, butter and chocolate. A cakey batch has more flour and relies on baking powder for leavening. The amount of sugar and eggs does not change whether you're going fudgy or cakey.

What happens if you add too much flour to brownies? ›

Too much flour? Go back to your edges - if they're not burnt, look a good colour (similar to the centre) but the brownie is too cakey and dry throughout, the recipe probably included too much flour.

Should you let brownie batter rest? ›

Medrich's trick is to refrigerate the prepared brownie batter overnight and up to three days before you bake it. Medrich believes this will also let the flavors settle into each other better, creating a richer result.

How do you keep brownies from falling apart when cutting? ›

Wait until your brownies have completely cooled to room temperature. As brownies cool, they will solidify and set up, so slicing into them too early can result in brownie squares that fall apart or become a mess very quickly.

Should I put brownies in the fridge before cutting? ›

For a perfect cut on your brownies, try refrigerating them before cutting – it's much easier to achieve perfect squares when a brownie is firm from the fridge.

What do you use to cut brownies in a non stick pan? ›

The Bakeware Buddy is a serrated plastic knife designed for cutting brownies, cakes, pies, bar cookies and any other baked goods from non-stick pans without scratching the non-stick surface.

How do you make brownies not stick when cutting? ›

you have in your kitchen. Before you even go to cut your brownie, I want you to rinse that knife under hot water. and then just carefully wipe it with a wet paper towel. so you're heating up your knife, which is gonna make it cut through the brownies better.
