Major Taylor Swift ticket news as Ticketmaster updates on transfer and resale (2024)

The countdown is well and truly underway for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which comes to Dublin later this month. The superstar is set to perform three sold-out shows at the Aviva Stadium on June 28, 29 and 30.

With just weeks to go, Ticketmaster has provided an important update regarding ticket availability. Those lucky enough to secure a ticket to the Eras Tour in Dublin may have noticed a message on the Ticketmaster app and website indicating that their ticket is currently ‘unavailable.’ It reads: “Your tickets aren’t quite ready yet. Please check back later.”

However on Friday, in a reassuring message to ticket holders - as seen by the Irish Mirror - Ticketmaster promised that good news can be expected soon. A spokesperson confirmed a timeline for when tickets will be available to transfer, saying: “Ticket update – not long to go! The Event Organiser is working with us on a few final details before we can make your tickets available. We know you’re waiting for them to be available through the Ticketmaster App, so we’re working hard to have this completed as soon as possible. The latest you should have tickets available is two weeks before the event.

“Please keep in mind that you will be able to transfer your tickets to family and friends once they are ready. As soon as tickets are available, we will be back in touch to let you know.”

Ticketmaster’s ticket transfer feature allows ticket holders to easily send tickets to friends and family, ensuring that everyone in the group can gain entry to the event without needing to meet up beforehand. This is also useful for those who bought tickets on behalf of others. Once tickets are transferred, the recipient can access their ticket directly from the Ticketmaster app.

Meanwhile, resale through Ticketmaster provides a safe and secure platform for fans who can no longer attend the event to sell their tickets. This ensures that tickets are valid and buyers are protected from fraud. Once the ticket is sold, it is transferred to the new owner seamlessly through the Ticketmaster system.

Once this is activated, fans yet to secure a ticket should keep an eye on the Ticketmaster website HERE, where official resale tickets will be sold. Tickets will likely be snapped up very quickly, but fans can regularly check for official resale tickets and they could get lucky.

For those desperate to see the concert, another option to consider is unofficial ticket resale websites. Viagogo is selling Eras Tour tickets for the shows across Europe and the UK. Fans willing to travel outside of Ireland can snag tickets this very moment to other venues. As well as Dublin, the 34-year-old has upcoming concerts in UK venues in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London, as well as European venues in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw and Vienna.

The next stop on the Eras Tour is Edinburgh this weekend and Viagogo have tickets available to buy from €200, at the time of writing. You can check them out HERE.

Earlier this year, we scoured the internet for tickets to some of the European and UK venues and rounded up the cheapest tickets available at the time of writing, for any Swifties who may want to see the Eras Tour and make a holiday out of it. You can check out the full round up HERE. Many of the venues are hosting several nights of the concert, so it might be worth exploring all the different options to find a seat or standing ticket within your budget. You can do so on Viagogo HERE.

Should you buy Taylor Swift resale tickets?

Taylor Swift fans may be looking for tickets to the star's Eras Tour shows by any means necessary. However, they may find fear in looking at products being sold by the aforementioned reseller sites, such as viagogo.

Viagogo's ticket guarantee reads: "When You purchase tickets on viagogo, viagogo guarantees that you will receive the tickets you paid for in time for the event. In the rare instance that a problem arises and the original ticket seller does not provide you with the tickets listed for sale, viagogo will, in its discretion, review comparably priced tickets and offer you replacement tickets at no additional cost, or viagogo will issue you a refund for the cost of the tickets.

"'Comparably priced' replacement tickets are determined by viagogo in its discretion. When you sell tickets on viagogo, provided you provide the exact tickets listed for sale and the ticket buyer successfully gains entry to the event, viagogo guarantees that you will be paid for your sale."

Meanwhile, Ticketmaster and AXS - Taylor Swift's official retailers - also released a statement claiming that any tickets purchased other than authorised retailers would not be valid. They said: "The only way to obtain a valid ticket for Taylor Swift’s shows is via the approved ticket agents. In the UK, the approved ticket agents are Ticketmaster, AXS or directly through the venue’s website. In Ireland, the approved ticket agent is Ticketmaster. Any tickets found to be purchased via re-sale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled in accordance with the terms and conditions of sale.

"Through official resale facilities, ticket resale prices are capped to help combat the inflation of ticket prices and put a stop to ticket touting. For more information on official resale facilities, fans should visit the website of their approved ticket agent. These resale facilities enable fans to sell their tickets with confidence and empower fans to purchase resale tickets with the assurance that the ticket they are purchasing is genuine."

Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale - such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation - to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk.

With that said, Viagogo also commented: "viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the guarantee."
