• Peter Steinbach “Michael Johnson is not only a fantastic sound designer, he is also a very capable manager, motivating the best creative output from those he supervises. In my experience, these two skills rarely overlap.Michael hired me as a Senior Sound Designer at Blizzard Entertainment. While I had extensive experience in sound design for film and commercials, I had far less experience in game audio. Michael motivated and challenged me to rise to the occasion, and it is he who I thank most for bringing me into the world of game audio. Michael intuitively knew which of my buttons to press to get me to do my best. In addition, Michael is a truly great sound designer, and is uncompromising in his creative drive. Sound Design is an art form. It is a way of breathing life into a scene or character, using nothing but one’s imagination. It is taking something that you hear in your mind and somehow rendering it into an actual sound, often without any precedent or roadmap. In the context of game audio, this must be done within the confines of schedule and budget. Michael achieves this at the highest levels. It is my pleasure and honor to recommend Michael, both as a direct report and a creative colleague .”
